Getting started
First, choose the cat that walks with you and give it a name. You can change the name later.
Next, connect your step source (Health or This iPhone). Today's steps come in right away.
Even when the app isn't open, the steps you walk all come in the next time you open it. You don't need to open it every day.
Trips and companions
Your trip moves on as you walk. The map shows the steps to the next place and the toy that place's cat will teach you.
Walk all the way to the far end of a town, and you can set off for a new town.
Every 1,000 steps a cat comes along with you (up to 5 a day). Walking together earns a few more Paws.
Change where you travel under Destinations in the menu. Changing it swaps that day's companions.
Photos and group photos
When you reach a place, its cat lets you take a photo. A cat you meet for the first time teaches you how to make a toy.
When you reach the far end of a town, you take a group photo with the cats you met there.
You can also take photos any time with the camera button on the Home screen.
Album and Cat Book
Your photos collect in the Album, which is split into Travel photos, Everyday photos and Cat Book.
Travel photos are grouped by town, with each place's photos and the group photo. Photos taken with the camera button go into Everyday photos.
You can save or share photos with a name and date added.
The Cat Book shows the cats you have met and the toys they like.
Playing in the room
Craft toys under Make, then place them in your room with Rearrange. Cats you met on trips come to play with them and give you Koban as thanks when they leave.
Tap a visiting cat to give it a treat or play together. Each visit makes you better friends; with more hearts you can name a cat and dress it up.

About Paws and Koban
Paws build up as you walk, a little faster while companions walk with you. Use them to make toys, buy clothes at the Everyday Shop, shop in town shops and open new destinations.
Koban is a currency cats give as thanks. You get it when a visiting cat goes home, when you pet a cat, when you meet a cat for the first time, and at friendship milestones.
Spend Koban on treats, on finishing crafts sooner, and on calling a cat to your room.
There is no feature that gives currency for watching videos. If you see a video button that does not respond, check the store for an update.
Shops
The Everyday Shop has treats and clothes. Treats cost Koban; clothes cost Paws.
Each town you travel to has a shop too. Reaching places brings goods into the town's shop. The shop is open only while you travel in that town.
Dress up
Put the clothes you have on your cat under Dress up in the menu.
In Outfits, choose from Head, Body, Feet, Glasses and Tail to try things on, then tap Save to keep them. Items you mark with ★ gather under Favorite, and combinations under Looks.
In Cat look, you can change the face, eye color and more.
Cats you have become friends with can be dressed up too once they have more hearts.
If the cat disappears or clothing is misplaced, first check the store for an update. If it persists, contact us with the symptom and item name. Please keep the app and its data while we investigate.
Steps and records
Choose your step source under Step sync in Settings.
Health: up to 90 permitted days, including Apple Watch. Older than the latest 7 days: history only.
This iPhone: 7 days; Motion & Fitness permission required.
Unreadable days keep their saved records.
Use the arrow to the left of the date on the Home screen to see steps for earlier days.
The Records button at the bottom of the Home screen shows weekly and monthly totals, your daily average, your best day, steps by hour and the cats you walked with.
FAQ
Do I have to open the app every day?
No. Steps add up, so even if you open it after a few days, you move forward by everything you walked in between.
Can I play on days I don't walk much?
Yes. Set out toys in your room, and cats come over to play.
Can I save the photos?
Yes. From the album, you can save and share them with a name and date.
My steps aren't increasing.
In the app's Settings, check the step source. For Health, allow Walk with Cat to read steps in the Health app's sharing settings. For "This iPhone", allow Motion & Fitness in the iPhone's Settings.
I bought something but it didn't arrive.
Open the app again while you are online. If it still doesn't appear, contact us with the date and time of purchase, the item name and the Support ID shown in the app's Settings.
Does "Restore purchase" bring back Paws?
No. Only one-time purchases made with the same Apple Account can be restored. Paws are stored on your device.
I'd like a refund.
Payments are handled by Apple, so please request a refund from Apple's "Report a Problem" page (reportaproblem.apple.com).
How do I turn off usage analytics?
In the app's Settings, you can turn usage analytics and crash reports off separately. See the Privacy Policy for details.
